Tide on Top

Blog Post Header

Yesterday, the Crimson Tide played their way to yet another Sugar Bowl victory! This game, however, was different. After last year’s championship upset when Clemson defeated Alabama, the heat was on. Since narrowly making the top four in the country, Alabama knew they had to pull a miraculous win out of thin air. This game was the redemption from the Iron Bowl (which I am still bitter about by the way) and payback for last year’s defeat.

The Crimson Tide did it again, and I am beyond psyched to watch them kick some major ass in the championship game vs. Georgia this Monday. Roll Tide, Roll Tide!!

Monthly Workouts

The freshman 15 is real y’all, especially when I’m surrounded by fried food all the time. I thought it would be fun to try a new area-targeted workout every month and share my results with everyone. This month I’m targeting my not so lovely side fat. It’s become an issue for me personally and for my self esteem- so i’m going to combat it!

Side Workout

I plan on doing this five days a week, and it will not only reduce my side fat, but it will tone my stomach as well. I can’t wait to share my results (and before and after pictures) with everyone!

A Look Back

As we begin 2018, we’ve started to realize just how much we and everything else has changed over these last two years. At the start of this blog, we had no idea what we were doing, or how to even begin really. Change does happen whether it is good or bad, and this blog has changed a lot. Here’s a look back on just how much the elements of this blog have changed!

Our logo has been the same since day one, and we couldn’t imagine anything else that captures the two of us in one single picture.

As for our sign-offs, our 101 in 1001 image, and our writing styles, those changed dramatically. This post includes the debut of our new sign offs and we can’t wait to share them with you!

2018

While we love all of our previous blog graphics, we’ve outgrown them as we grew up, and the best things are always changing.

We can’t see what this year is going to bring!

Kate & Kay Turns 2!

turns 2 years old today!

Crazy to think that we’ve had this blog for a full two years of our lives now. This has been here for everything big – prom, junior rings, college acceptances, and finally saw us off to the biggest adventure of our lives. From having an idea in the middle of Spanish class junior year, to making this dream a reality, thank you for being here through it.

With love from the very bottom of our hearts,

18 Things I Learned at 18

So I turn 19 in 8 days, which is crazy to me. It seems like it was just yesterday I was a senior in high school and celebrating my 18th birthday with my best friends. With age comes wisdom, and life lessons. So while I’m looking back on the last year, here are 18 things that I learned at 18.

  1. You can’t change everything. Accept what you can’t, and work hard to change what you can
  2. You get back what you put in (this applies to people, school, work, and everything else)
  3. You can’t control other people’s actions, but you can control your own
  4. Learn to laugh at yourself then let it go
  5. But you also need to know when it’s time to get shit done
  6. A small group of close friends is better than a big group of ones you barely know
  7. Eat the extra donut or cookie or whatever. Life is short. You can always go to the gym tomorrow.
  8. You can’t win everything (no matter how hard you try)
  9. Know when to put yourself first
  10. There are some people that don’t deserve more than one chance
  11. Get a healthy routine down now, and stick with it
  12. Take pictures of literally everything
  13. Don’t take your parents and your home for granted – you’ll miss it once you’re gone
  14. Don’t take that last shot, that last drink, or that last hit. You’ll regret it in the morning.
  15. Not everyone you meet is going to like you and that’s okay
  16. You miss every chance you don’t take. Take everything as it comes, and never miss out on an opportunity. You’ll be glad you did when you look back on it.
  17. Love everything. Love your hometown, your old school, and your best friends. Love the experiences you’ve had and the failures. Just love everything, because these are the memories that you’ll hold dear to your heart.
  18. Only self love will complete you, and you’re the only one who will be there for you forever

My First Week in College!

Blog Post Header

So anyone who knows me knows that I’ve recently moved into my dorm at The University of Alabama. I moved in on the 11th for the start of sorority recruitment, which is a week long (post on that soon!).

Once everything was in the room and I and got partly settled, off I went to convocation with my roommates while my parents stayed behind and set a few more things up for me. Honestly I wouldn’t have been able to get completely moved in without them so a massive thank you to my wonderful parents!

As I’m writing this, I’m sitting at my desk procrastinating getting ready for the final day of recruitment which is the most important! I can’t wait to show you all my dorm room, and tell you all about recruitment!

Roll Tide Roll!

Farm Animals? What are those?

Day three was… interesting. We were brought to a bog farm. At first, we were a little apprehensive about sticking out feet in a bog. For those of you who don’t know, a bog is basically a layer of water, and then a layer of mud. The bog was used in the past almost as a refrigerator (and a place to hide bodies). We even visited a museum that had bog bodies. The bog is 4 degrees Fahrenheit year round so nothing decomposes. But… SURPRISE! With great difficulty, Kay and I crossed the bog.

At first, we had no problem walking around in it, in fact, walking around in the mud was kind of fun, but then we started sinking… fast. I must admit it was hilarious watching a group of 27 girls running through the mud trying to not sink. Finally, we made it across and back, laughing the entire way.

Once we cleaned up, we learned how to make soda bread. Let me tell you, it was amazing. As in we literally cried over how good it was. After crying over the bread and finally eating it we wandered around the farm, finding animals, a red barn door, and PUPPIES.

Sadly, day three ended fast (probably because we all had sooo much fun). But don’t worry, day three was great too!

Breakfast, Kilts, & Coffee – The Essentials for the Trip

Days one and two in Ireland our tour guide Espin woke us up bright and early and sat us down to have a nice little breakfast (I must say the coffee in Europe is SO good).

After breakfast, we were brought to a really cool street market area. At first, we all were under the impression that we would be going to an arcade because that is what our tour guide called it. Imagine our surprise when we walked up to a vintage styled marketplace! I must admit though, wandering through the marketplace and streets was amazing. It gave us a sense of adventure. Like HELLO we were in a foreign country far away from our parents, free, and ready to see new things.

Although walking around the streets was exhausting, it did not stop us from having little picture sessions in the streets. The constant cloudiness gave us perfect lighting to take pictures and keep these memories with us.

At one point we were so determined to take good pictures, in the middle of the lawn at Trinity College, Kay whipped out our uniform kilt from school… It’s safe to say we looked like complete idiots, but hey! We finally made good use of that stupid skirt.

After that we went to an art museum where it is safe to say Kay and I went a little crazy. The paintings there were so beautiful, and we did cry over a Monet, but we recuperated fast enough to take our classic pinky picture!

After walking around and seeing all the art we sat ourselves down at a cafe inside the museum and relaxed until it was time to go (but of course we just HAD to take more pictures).

Alas day one ended, and we were EXHAUSTED. We ate our dinner and passed out, excited to see what day two would bring us.

We Went to Europe… and Survived!

So Kay and I have been off the map for a good amount of time, but I promise we have a good excuse! We went to Europe with our school for about 10 days, and the moment we came back we were thrown back into work and other activities. So in this post we are just going to summarize our trip, and then we are going to go more in depth about our trip and share pictures.

The trip in general was SO AMAZING. It was exciting to be traveling around the world with my friends. The flight there was kind of killer, it was a red eye flight and let me tell you, it was nearly impossible falling asleep. Kay and I both took ZzzQuil in hopes of sleeping through the entire thing… let me tell you, that did NOT happen. Instead I was awoken several times because of the flight attendants in addition to not really being able to find a comfortable position. The flight was five and a half hours, and I probably got 3 hours of sleep.

When we landed it was 7 in the morning so we had a full day ahead of us. The excitement of being in a foreign country took over and kept us awake until mid afternoon until the entire group of girls just simultaneously collapsed from exhaustion. The trip went by fast, and we made soooo many memories that I think we can both say we will cherish forever. I must admit there were some bad times, like that one dinner where about half of us couldn’t eat the food, but there were good times too. Those good times will be making an appearance in the next couple of posts, so stick around!
