Hey guys! So recently I have been super busy because I am currently in a musical. As you can guess by the title, it’s the Little Mermaid! During auditions I sang Somewhere That’s Green from Little Shop of Horrors, and ended up getting a callback for Ariel. Even though I ended up not getting a major role, I am happy with what I got. I play a seagull, as well as a chef, a dancing fish, and a swan. I am also dance captain which is pretty amazing (even though I constantly get yelled at because people don’t know their dances).
Growing up my favorite disney princess was Ariel, and to be in the musical my senior year makes me feel as if I have come full circle. A lot of people ask me why I keep doing the musicals even though I don’t get a role, well here is my answer. I honestly don’t care if I get a role or not. I love being a part of something, and it makes me feel 10x better as a person. I love singing and dancing, and being around my friends. I don’t ask for people to try and understand why I love performing, because most of the time they wouldn’t get the feeling I get. They wouldn’t understand that when I am on stage singing and dancing, all of my worries and troubles go away (I know it sounds cliche but it’s true!). I can be myself when I’m on stage, so go ahead and laugh, I don’t care. I just hope that you, the person reading this, has something that they love, like I love doing musicals.
I guess what this whole post is about, finding something you love. Don’t listen to the people who question why you do what you do. You do it because it’s who you are, and PLEASE, don’t let anyone change that, don’t let them try and change who you are and what makes you happy.
