The Thing About Friendship

The dictionary defines the word friendship as the emotion or conduct between two friends. I define friendship as always having someone to go on an adventure with. Don’t understand? I’ll give you an example. Kay and I met each other freshman year of high school. I don’t remember the first time we met, I think it was at some beginning of the year school dance. We immediately became best friends. We tell each other everything, we get mad at each other, we fight, and then we hug it out and move on. We go on late night adventures, we party, we get through school together, and most importantly we get through life together.

Me and her are totally different though. She’s super preppy, loves country music, and is a complete dare devil. I on the other hand, am more of a broadway fan, I dance and sing, and dress more casual chic. I don’t know how we are still best friends, but we are.

Find a friend who understands you. Who will pick you up somewhere when you are crying and take you to Panera and rub your back. Find a friend who will listen to you rant about a boy, and then yell at you for being stupid enough to fall for said boy. Find a friend who sticks swirly straws in your cup just because he or she thinks it’s cute and weird. Find a friend who is willing to go on crazy adventures with you at any time of the day just because you decided you need some fun in your life.

I think it’s going to be hard when it’s time to say goodbye and start our new lives in college. We spent four long and weird years together, and being apart is going to be hard on us. I think we can do it though. I can promise you now Kay (if you’re reading this) that I will somehow find a way to keep up the tradition of late night adventures, swirly straws, football games, crazy after proms, rants about our family, dreams, songs, and everything else we have ever done during our high school career.

*little thought- this did not end up how I thought it would be, sorry*

ANYWAY, I hope all of you reading this have a friend like I do, and if not, I’m sorry. (Me and Kay are here for you)
